Winter Wanderland

Why chilly winter months are the best time of year for a Great British staycation at one of Farriers countryside retreats...

#1 Roaring fires, local ales and cosy pubs

There's nothing better than cosying up in front of an open fire with a pint of the local stuff during the winter months. Each of Farriers cottages are in walking distance to a picture-perfect dog friendly local - check out our favourites in our guidebooks here.

#2 Beat the crowds at some of the most enchanting sights

Whether it's exploring the picturesque villages of the Slaughters, Cotswolds, soaking up history at Bath Spa or playing queen and kings for the day at Blenheim Palace, during the summer, things can get a little crowded. The winter months are the perfect time to visit these must see locations, with less footfall and entrance ticket prices usually much better value during off peak months! Check our our fave spots here!

#3 Perfect winter weather

Think winter weather isn't your cup of tea? Think again. The rugged Jurassic Coast spans nearly 100 miles up the South Devon coastline and the gorgeous Cotswold Way meanders through some of the most impressive English countryside. Brisk winter days can be some of the most beautiful times to visit.

There are hundreds of short walks, trails and hill climbs to explore, but hiking these paths during the summer months can be exhausting! Wrap up warm, and embrace the atmosphere on those chilly winter days when it feels like summer in the sun, and winter in the shade. All of Farriers countryside escapes are surrounded by walking trails, and you'll always find maps, guides and brollies just in case!

#4 Star gazing in the hot tubs

Soak away the city stress in a bubbling hot tub beneath the stars on a clear winter evening, it's the best time to take a dip at selected Farriers countryside escapes. There's health benefits too! The hot water and soothing massage systems are great for winter aches and pains, improving blood circulation and the steam can clear your sinuses helping you to fight off a dreaded winter cold!

#5 Cosy cottages designed for romantic weekends away

Farriers countryside retreats are designed with romantic weekends away in mind. Whether its the luxuriously soft linen, bubbling hot tub or roll top tub, our cottages have everything you're looking for to treat that special someone. There's no better excuse than a cold winters day to snuggle up in-front of a fire and fall in love all over again. Book your valentines day stay now...
